Our students work hard everyday at being a HAWK. To be a hawk, one tries their best to be:
Here
Accountable
Works hard
Kind
Safe
Each month, teachers and staff nominate students they notice going the extra mile to be a great HAWK at Hayward.
Congratulations to our November Hawks!! We are very proud of you!

This Friday is the Native American Solstice Gathering at Axtell Park School.
Join us for community, a meal, and make & take crafts for Native American students and families in the SFSD. Free meals provided for the first 500 people. Hope to see you there!

Education looks different for every child. At Hayward, we are blessed to have seven amazing individuals who devote themselves to making sure every child has the support they need to meet their potential.
Cheers to our Hayward special education teachers on National Special Education Teacher Day!! We appreciate all your hard work and dedication for our students! ❤

It's that time of year when it can feel like your kid catches every bug that is going around. Here is a quick reminder of the district policies about when to stay home.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we have so many blessings to celebrate. Students in 502 counted their blessings with Ms. Rymerson this week. ❤️

A reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, November 27th, through Friday, November 29th. This season reminds us how much we have to be grateful for, especially our amazing students, staff, and families! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving break!

Help shape the future of the Sioux Falls School District by completing a survey about the most desired qualities of the next superintendent. The SFSD School Board is using an educational leadership search firm to gather input. https://hyasurvey.com/SiouxFalls

Lace up those roller skates! Skate City night is coming up Monday November 25!!

Project Warm Up is back!
Join us on Saturday, December 14th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School (1510 S Lake Avenue) for a day of fun, community, and giving.

Students from Sonia Sotomayor (pictured in this photo) and the rest of the Sioux Falls School District would like to wish you a Happy Veteran's Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
South Dakota public schools proudly recognize and support the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. Their sacrifices and dedication have upheld the values and freedoms we cherish, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to protecting our nation.
Our schools are committed to instilling respect and appreciation for veterans among our students, helping them understand the importance of service and dedication. We invite our community to join us in expressing heartfelt gratitude and respect for our veterans.
Thank you to all our veterans for your service and sacrifice!

REMINDER! Sioux Falls School District schools and offices will be CLOSED on Monday, November 11, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Thank you to all who have served! Especially SFSD staff members who proudly serve(d) in our schools and on the front lines. 🇺🇸

On Wednesday, our students had a little fun delivering some pie to three of their favorite staff!
Mr. Joey, Mrs. Maeschen, and Mr. Peterson -- thank you for being amazing sports and having fun with us!!

Thank you to all our families for coming tonight and supporting our students and music curriculum.
We hope you enjoyed the program.

5th grade students will be presenting their vocal music concert this week.
Thursday, November 7th at 6pm
Please come and support our students and applaud their hard work in music class!

Some of the Hayward crew wore their "saucy" shirts today!

Tomorrow is election day. Please remember that Hayward Elementary is no longer a polling location. Please refer to the map below to help you determine where you need to report for voting. If you are unsure of where to go, call the county auditor office or visit https://www.minnehahacounty.gov/dept/au/election/precinct_info/AllCityPrecincts.pdf

Please remember the north driveway is closed before and after school to everyone except buses and daycare vans.
The buses need a lot of room to safely navigate and park.
In addition we want to keep everyone safe by reducing foot traffic in that back parking lot before and after school.

Don't forget to order your Hayward Spirit Wear by tomorrow night!
