The stats are troubling-47% of SFSD students qualify for free/reduced lunches. Their family's income is not enough to make ends meet. That makes it difficult to support school fundraisers. Operation Hope & Caring helps! Get your tickets to the SF STORM game to support schools!

Kindergarten registration is going on right now for the Two-Way Immersion program! The goal of this program is full bilingualism and biliteracy in both Spanish and English for English and Spanish speaking students. Classes consist of equal parts native English and Spanish speaking students and classes are taught equally in both languages throughout the school day. We can't believe how many books Hayward can read in just three weeks!
Our final count in is and we read a whopping 10,395 books!! This is amazing!
Not only were students reading as many books as they could, they've also been participating in a contest to see who could do the most math lessons on Dreambox.
Our kids rocked every bit of March, from start to finish! We love seeing our students rise and meet the challenges and goals we give them. They are incredible learners who really reach for the stars! We can't wait to see what April brings.

SFSD would like to give a huge shout-out to our partners at Delta Dental who visit schools to complete much-needed dental work for eligible students! Cleanings, cavities, and root canals are all done in the mobile bus, so students don’t have to miss school for an appointment! You put a smile on our faces, Delta Dental! Thank you!

Grief and Loss are the topics of this month's Family Forum Series - an online program to strengthen families with a partnership between SFSD and Avera Behavioral Health. Watch for the link Tuesday at 6pm or join us at sf.k12.sd.us. Click Students & Families, then Counseling.

The Sioux Falls School District is excited to partner with Siouxland Libraries again for Everybody Reads! From March 13-31, students, staff, parents, and community members are being encouraged to track how many books they read. The goal is to create a community of readers ages 0 –100! Starting March 13, you will see a rocket, astronaut and a galaxy begin to appear in the library. For the next three weeks, a new star will appear in the galaxy when a book is read. Once your student(s) completes a book, they will receive a star to add to the galaxy. We look forward to a bright galaxy with billions and billions of stars!
Wondering how you can get involved as a parent? Encourage your student to read at home! As mentioned, this is a community-wide reading initiative. Anytime YOU finish a book throughout the month of March, we would encourage you to stop by your local library to add your own star to the growing galaxy and record your progress at https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/everybody-reads
Thank you for your support and let’s get reading!
