Ryan Kortemeyer is the Lincoln High School Welding and Automotive teacher. He was nominated for this award by his fellow LHS educator, Sarah Burkett, who shared this about Ryan, "Ryan Kortemeyer reflects all that is good in education: striving for excellence, creating high expectations for his students, and collaborating effectively with other educators. An automotive and welding educator, Ryan embodies the mission of the Sioux Falls School District as he supports diverse learners in his classes. He treats all students with dignity and respect while engaging them in hands-on activities that strengthen their job skills in the future. Ryan works diligently to foster positive relationships in his classroom while ensuring student success in auto mechanics and welding. Ryan has also supported new automotive and welding teachers at other schools; he willingly shares content and collaborates with his colleagues across the district. In addition to this, Ryan provides support to students outside of the classroom, including float building and participation in the Native American Day parade. His humility and dedication to our students is something to celebrate! Ryan is the ideal candidate for this recognition; he is humble, professional, and an asset to the education field."
Congratulations, Mr. Kortemeyer! Thank you for all you do for the Sioux Falls School District!

The Lincoln High School Theatre Department proudly invites you to our fall play, Dancing at Lughnasa.
The beautiful, rolling hills of Ireland hold many stories and secrets. LHS Theatre presents Dancing at Lughnasa by the great Irish playwright Brian Friel. Dancing at Lughnasa is set in the summer of 1936 during the Celtic harvest festival of Lughnasa. Five unmarried sisters — Kate, Maggie, Agnes, Rose and Chris — live in the rural Irish countryside outside the tiny village of Ballybeg; loosely based on the lives of Friel’s mother and aunts, the play is a rich and deeply moving portrait of their everyday lives, as remembered through the eyes of Chris’s seven-year-old son, Michael, now an adult.
The show will be presented in the Rosella Blunk Little Theater on November 17, 18 at 7pm, and November 19th at 1pm and 7pm. All seats are $5.00.

LHS Senior Ali Bainbridge was named the South Dakota High School Heisman! Ali will receive a $1,000 scholarship as she continues her Track, Cross-Country, and Academic career at the University of Nebraska next year. Great job, Ali!!

The LHS Volleyball team has had a magnificent regular season, winning 19 matches against 10 losses, and earning the #6 seed in the SoDak 16. They will host #11 Watertown with a chance to go to the State Tournament on the line. Come support your lady Patriots this Thursday at 7 PM in the LHS gym!

And with a blink of an eye, we are already a quarter way through the 2022-2023 school year! The second quarter is here, and it’s a busy one! While this time of year tends to get chaotic, it’s important to remember how crucial student attendance is. Chronic absenteeism is a serious problem in South Dakota - a problem SFSD is committed to improving. Missing just two days a month can hurt a student’s grades and increase their chance of dropping out. Make sure your student is on the path to a bright future – and that starts in the classroom!

October Students of the Month:
9th - Declan Battey and Vivian Kiesow Knudsen
10th grade: Isabella Krunitzky and Ivy Pudwill
11th grade: Essence Antelope and Rebekah Burr
12th grade: Mia Wentzel and Sean Baker
Congrats, Patriots!

Our LHS Cheer and Dance teams competed in the State Competition this past weekend.
The Cheer team took 11th place, while our Dance team brought home 8th overall, securing 4th place in Hip Hop, 8th in Jazz.
Junior Bella Krenik received All-State honors!
Nice job, ladies!
