The boy's and girl's cross country teams are also taking their talents out west this weekend, competing in the State Cross Country Meet Saturday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City.
The boys team won the Roy Griak Invitational for the second straight season and will be going into the State Meet in a tight battle with Washington, who they split with 2-2 on the year. LHS is the 3-time defending state champions heading into Saturday. They will rely upon senior leadership from Tyrus Needles, Henry Sayler, Riddick Iseminger, and Frank Vandy.
The girls team finished 2nd at the Metro Conference meet behind Harrisburg, who they will be chasing for a title on Saturday. Our girls team is led by seniors Mia Kadi, Emmeline Murray, Anna Spanos, and Reagan Ostransky.
Both teams have had terrific seasons, and Coach Jelen hopes to captain the squad to its third straight combined team title and 10th in the past 13 seasons!
