Ten talented students from across the region are headed to Dakota News Now Media Camp, starting June 2, 2025! With support from the Washington Pavilion, students will dive into the world of TV news — from reporting and writing to video production and advertising.
The week wraps up with students producing their own 5-minute newscasts, airing at 5:00 & 6:00 p.m. on KSFY and streaming on DakotaNewsNow.com!

🚁✈️ CTE Aviation & RHS AF JROTC Field Trip! 🌟
On April 25th, students from the CTE Aviation and Roosevelt High School AF JROTC programs took flight—figuratively—on an exciting field trip!
First stop: the South Dakota Army National Guard Base, where students got a close-up look at helicopter operations, aviator gear (like helmets, life preservers, and night-vision goggles), and learned about the incredible opportunities available in military aviation. 🪖🦺🎧
After lunch, the adventure continued at the South Dakota Air & Space Museum, where students connected with past aviators and explored some amazing aircraft from history! 🛫🚀
A big thank-you to all who helped make this educational and inspiring day possible!

🧸💉 The Health Careers I and EMT students from CTE hosted a HuG & HeaL Clinic for the 2nd graders at Laura B. Anderson Elementary! Our students became “doctors for the day,” giving checkups to stuffed animals—complete with stethoscopes, otoscopes, bandages, and lots of care. 💗
Every stuffie left with a diagnosis and a prescription for more snuggles, snacks, or movie time! 🎬🍿 This was a wonderful way to give elementary students a fun, positive medical experience while giving our CTE students hands-on practice communicating with littles. What a day! 👩⚕️👨⚕️✨

It’s also our honor to present the Wayne Rasmussen Scholarship—a $500 award given to an AOF student who embodies leadership, dedication, and enthusiasm for the program.
Named after Wayne Rasmussen, former Citibank PR Manager, SDSU alum, and NFL defensive back for the Detroit Lions (1964–1973), this scholarship honors his legacy of education, leadership, and community. Wayne played a key role in launching the AOF program in Sioux Falls over 25 years ago and continues to inspire future leaders like Ruby.
